MISSION

The mission of the Institute for Vietnamese USA (VietUSA) is to preserve, promote, and enhance many traditional and contemporary aspects of Vietnamese culture within the Vietnamese American community and to introduce the strengths and beauties of this culture to local communities.

VALUES

The institute affirms that Vietnamese culture and traditional values are fundamental for Vietnamese Americans to build strong family foundation and ethnic identity across generations in the diverse and multicultural American society. We also believe that Vietnamese American culture and values benefit the greater American society. We promote and support all activities including education, arts and sciences, research and related activites that help the development and preservation of Vietnamese cultural values and traditions for all Vietnamese Americans.

HISTORY

We are a group of friends who share the same history - we were refugees and boat people who came from Vietnam at the end of the Vietnam War on April 30, 1975 - and share a desire to build a strong Vietnamese American community which rooted in Vietnamese culture and traditional values.

-We provide language education, English for non-English speaking Vietnamese Americans and Vietnamese for non-Vietnamese speaking Americans and all other ethnic and racial communities.

-We provide college entrance exams preparation for all ethic/racial groups in the community.

-We provide US citizenship education to prepare eligible US permanent residents to apply for US citizenship.

-We organize cultural events to promote Vietnamese arts and literature.

-We support publication and dissemination of Vietnamese literature including modern and traditional music.

-We support activities that promote physical health, mental health, and social health among Vietnamese Americans across generations.
